This bust is a copy of an original marble sculpture (ORIG2419) housed at The British Museum. The identity of the sitter is not confirmed, but is believed to be part of the court of Julia Domna, Septimius Severus’ wife. This conclusion is mostly made on the woman’s hairstyle.
Many other theories exist, such as identifying her as Crispina (Commodus’ wife), or a sister of Domna.
Our figures are made by hand using high quality natural marble stone therefor each piece is unique and may slightly be different in shape and color.
