This work by Nikolay Laveretsky (1837-1907), carved from marble, features a young girl and a boy looking at a bird. The sculpture probably represents the purity of youth, a topic typical of the time in Russia. The work was created during the sculptor’s visit to Italy and was rewarded with an Academician degree for this piece in 1868).
лаверецкий н.а (Nikolai Akimovich Laveretsky), was a Russian sculptor and academic of the Imperial Academy of Arts. He taught sculpture at the Imperial Academy between 1870-1894. he was son of the sculptor Akim Panflovich Laveretsky and the older brother of the scuptor Ivan Akimovich Laveretsky.
