This sculpture was executed for the 1869 Salon by Jean-Joseph Perraud.
The figure sculpted is an allegory of desperation, a tragic condition of the human being. The figure is depicted with no accessories nor clothes, it allows the viewer to interpret and get a deeper feeling of how the man is feeling. The desperation is conveyed not only from the facial expression, but from every part of the naked body too.
Our figures are made by hand using high quality natural marble stone therefor each piece is unique and may slightly be different in shape and color.
