This cast depicts one of the apostles and the original sculpture is currently placed in in the Sainte Chapelle. Saint Jaques is one of the fews original sculptures still in place after The Revolution.
This sculpture was originally commissioned by King Louis IX in order to decorate the building. Here we can see the exceptional artistic production and craftmanship of the time.
The apostle is represented holding his pilgrim stick, with a long coat which seems floating in the wind, representing the act of moving of the apostle.
