Cast from a Neoclassical sculpture in the National Gallery, Parma. Canova has represented the Goddess Concordia to whom honours were paid in Olympia by the ancient Greeks, in the likeness of the Empress Maria Luisa. She is seated on a richly ornamental throne, majestically attired in a rich tunic, with ample folds, skillfully disposed and covering her whole person. This cast is considered to be technically one of Canova’s masterpieces.
