Charles Degeorge’s best-known work depicts the famous philospher as a semi-nude teenage boy, reclining in a throne and looking bored as he studies a scroll. It prefigures the thoughts that the teenager will eventually share, while contrasting his apathy with the studying he will do.
It currently stands in the Musee D’Orsay in Paris, France
