Vertumnus and Pomona Camille Claudel

This sculpture previously executed in different medias and give different names, depicts Sakuantala’s reunion with her husband.

According to the story, Vertumnus was in love with the beautiful Pomona, who was devoted to gardening and uninterested in courtship. He tried to woo her, at first in vain, but eventually won her heart.

Claudel spent huge amount of time in pursuing the ideal and final result she had in mind. The variaety of medium used in the previous works and the different names give, show this need to find the expected result in the final piece.

I make the figures with marble, a resistant material, which allows the figure to be exposed even outdoors and look even more beautiful over the years.

The statue helps people calm down, not impatient, not hasty. It reminds us there are many difficulties and sadness outside but if we just think about all the goodness, just smile and you will feel the life much easier.
