This piece was made by the artist through the use of a plaster cast moulded from real life. His muse was Apollonie Sabatier, a Parisian beauty at the time who also inspired Baudelaire in most of his work.
The scandalous (at the time) sculpture, represents a woman contorting her body in pain. The snake who is biting her appears twisting around her wrist, holding her.
Our figures are made by hand using high quality natural marble stone therefor each piece is unique and may slightly be different in shape and color.
