The ornate monumental vase was one of the many sculpted works that decorated the park in Versailles during the reign of King Louis XIV (1643-1715); it was placed in the North parterre. The vase is decorated with a marine triumph, the scene shows the sea Nymph Galatea, who was in love with the Shepherd Acis according to the “Metamorphosis” written by the Roman poet Ovidio.Our figures are made by hand using high quality natural marble stone therefor each piece is unique and may slightly be different in shape and color.
